The Community Chaplaincy Association Helping create a fresh start ~Together !

The CCA is the newly forming national association for Community Chaplaincy projects throughout the U.K.

The Community Chaplaincy Association represents the interests of Community Chaplaincy projects across the United Kingdom, providing an independent voice whilst seeking to work hand in hand with the National Offender Management Service and HM Prison Service Headquarters, and other interested parties. The Association has been formed by Community Chaplaincies, for Community Chaplaincies, to benefit those they serve.

The main activities of the association is provide a central web based information point www.communitychaplaincy.info and easy access to specific projects.  In raising the profile, and increasing the accessibility of information, on Community Chaplaincy, the association hopes to champion the commitment and professionalism of Community Chaplains and make their work more widely appreciated. It also runs this web site, providing a members area as detailed on the home page of this site.

Terms of Reference

"Membership" of the Community Chaplaincy Association means that the organisation in question is affiliated to the association by virtue of the fact that they are working with offenders / ex-offends, are called, or known as, a community chaplaincy, accepted as such by their peers present on www.communitychaplaincy.info, by the association it's self, and by reference to it's partner organisations, in particular Clinks.

Together with our membership and partner organisations, we are working towards the adoption of an agreed statement on "what is a community chaplaincy", and a set of policy documents to which projects can adhere.  Once adopt by us, projects that in turn adopt and adhere to them on a local level, will be able to become "Accredited Members" of the association.  This means that, in addition to a developing range of benefits, accredited members will in time be able to use the associations logo and their projects status as an accredited member, on publications, funding bids etc as agreed with the association.

"Associate" status of the association applies to individuals rather than organisations, and means that the person concerned has some relationship with community chaplaincy and therefore has an interest in it, and the potential to contribute to it.  A classic example of an associate might be a prison chaplain, an individual with experience form within a organisation such as The Probation Service or other offending / drug working organisation or a leader from a faith community actively involve with community chaplaincy.   Individuals from partner organisations that are very actively involved with community chaplaincy may also be associates.  One current example of this may be the community chaplaincy development office of Clinks.

“Partners” of the association are organisations that are involved, or have an interest in, the same areas of work as community chaplaincy.  They may be both secular and faith based.  An example of a secular Partner Organisation is Bridging The Gap.  An example of a faith based Partner Organisation is Caring for Ex-Offenders.
